Finally, I had the pleasure to eat here the other day. The only disappointment I have is that we did not go on Wednesday. I will be back to have an Indian Taco someday. The food was delicious. I had the steak and chicken finger basket. It was great. I loved the batter they used, and the steak was actually steak. My husband had the chicken fry steak. It was tasty. Overall, it was great tasty food.
First time here and won’t be the last. Beef and vegetable soup was delicious and I got the fried chicken special. Might be some of the best fried chicken I have ever had.
This is a nice place, on the small side but it's worth a visit. The staff is friendly, the service is great, the food comes out quickly even though they were packed at the time. The chicken fried steak is really good. I didn't really care for the mashed potatoes, they tasted more like instant than real mashed potatoes but the gravy made up for it. The pinto beans were good as well. For less than $9 a plate it is definitely worth it, and one could easily spend that amount at fast food restaurants and not get near the quality. They do need to go a little lighter on the salad dressing, my tomatoes were drowning. Overall, this could easily be a go to place! Gotta try the delicious looking burgers next time.
This was our first time here. My husband had the pulled pork and raved it was more delicious than some BBQ places. My grandson ordered the kids chicken and this was the first time he was served the real deal, not some frozen pressed junk from Walmart. I had veggies and they were mouth watering Pinto beans that you could taste jad been cooking all day, okra, salad and mashed potatoes. Real mashed with no skin left on, so no dirt taste just spectacular food. Thank you! We will be back
We love Johnson’s Stepping Stone! The jalapeño burgers are SO delicious! They get a nice crisp on the patty that just takes it over the top! The onion rings are to die for! Steak bites are delicious too! Jalapeño chicken sandwich on Fridays are crispy and flavorful! Great service and great prices!
Got the Roast Beef with Veggies.... Outstanding!!!! Also got a bowl of beans with corn bread. Both were excellent. It's a small town dinner feel with the hustle of a major metropolitan to hurry and finish because there is someone always waiting to be seated. Did not like the fact that you have to go the counter to pay when your done and stand next to people while they are trying to eat. Table checkout needs to be here. Still a great place to eat!
I kept hearing about how good the burger and onion rings are so I came in to try it. I was not disappointed!!! Great burger with good flavor and the onion rings were perfect! While I didn’t have room for dessert the pies look like my grandma made them! I can’t wait to come back!
The Chicken and Dumplings are fantastic. Definitely going back just for the soup! I really enjoyed the fried beef strips. Very tender and not to chewy. I would highly recommend these as well but have to have the cream gravy with it. The Onion rings have the perfect crisp to them. My wife enjoyed her club sandwich. We'll definitely be back.
The atmosphere isn't anything to brag about as it is just a small diner. But don't let that fool you! We have worked through the menu for years, and love everything we've tried. We especially come back on Wednesdays for the Indian taco dinner which is enormous fry bread with beans minced meat, onions lettuce tomato, sour cream and salsa. We also come back for their soups, which are homemade in house. Finally can't forget to mention the homemade pies available, the Hawaiian being our favorite. The staff is always ridiculously nice, and we love George!
The service was friendly. The building is on the small side, so it was packed when we showed up. The staff seated us asap and there is a park behind if you want to get your food to go. Loved the food, I got a club, the fries were amazing, my son loved his chicken tenders.
